SCRUBBERS
|
Feature film, written by Roy Minton, Jeremy Watt and Mai Zetterling, directed by Mai Zetterling. A singularly bleak prison drama, set in a closed women's borstal. Press jury winner at the Festival of Women's Films. Produced by George Harrison's Handmade Films. Halliwell's Film Guide (2008) is unsympathetic - " a wild-eyed melodrama which seems to serve no sort of purpose and is certainly not entertaining." Given the film's quasi-documentary feel, the composer's contribution is necessarily sparse but telling.
